Week 1:  June 8 – 13 is Prelude Chamber Music Camp at Riverside Park United Methodist Church located at 819 Park St.

Week 2:  June 15 – 17 is the Prelude Chamber Music Festival Week at Riverside Presbyterian Church located at 849 Park St.

Opportunities for students of all ages and abilities to learn and enjoy playing violin, viola, cello, piano, bass and other string instruments in small ensemble groups. All participants must have studied their instrument for at least one year and be able to demonstrate a minimum ability to read music.

There will be three tracks of study for both weeks:

Primary Track: For first-timers or those who are younger or not quite ready for the pace of the Prelude Track camp experience. Camp days are June 8 – 12, from 9am – 1 pm, with a student recital on June 13th. Offers instruction in ensemble playing, coaching for individuals (as needed), musical games and daily special event performances. Extended day options available from 8am – 5:30 pm.

Prelude Track: Campers must demonstrate an ability to read music and perform music from at least Book 2 of Suzuki (or equivalent) at the placement auditions. Camp days are June 8 – 12, from 9am – 3pm, with a student recital on June 13th. Offers orchestra, theory class, small ensemble coaching, musical electives and daily special events and performances. Extended day options available from 8am – 5:30pm.

Intensive Track: For advanced students interested in tackling serious works from the chamber music literature. All students who wish to be considered for Intensive Track should register online. Enrollment is determined by invitation or placement audition April 11th. Camp days are June 8 – 12, from 9am – 4pm, with a concert on June 13th. Followed by June 15 – 17 festival days and instruction. Offers music coaching, daily special events, time for independent rehearsing, and one elective. Extended day options available from 8am – 5:30pm.

General application deadline is April 4, after which you may still register until the end of April, but you must pay the $50 late fee. Cost varies according to the track of study and includes tuition, music copies, camp T-shirt, insurance, snacks, drinks, special events performances and master classes. Bring your lunch. After registration, students are asked to participate in the April 11th placement audition so that we can determine the most appropriate track for camp. If you register late and miss this date, we will need to arrange for a time to hear the student and/or request music teacher recommendations.
