Magnet Mania and More

Magnet Mania and More is the biggest event on the magnet calendar. This showcase of all magnet programs and other school choice options gives parents and students the chance to speak with school representatives and collect information about their school choices. This year, other types of school options, such as charter schools, career academies and special academic programs, will also be represented.
In addition, you also have an opportunity to speak with magnet office staff and transportation officials, win prizes and enjoy performances by magnet students. Magnet Mania and More is a spectacular introduction to magnet programs and other school options as well as a great refresher for those families seeking new information.

Mayor Peyton's Book Club Registration
Calling all pre-kindergarteners! You are invited to receive a bag filled with fun reading resources and a series of Jacksonville-themed children's books! RALLY Jacksonville!, otherwise known as the Mayor's Literacy Initiative, is Mayor John Peyton's plan to get every child ready to read. This plan makes early literacy a core value in Jacksonville, improves the quality of its child care sites, and increases the number of children who are ready for school at the beginning of kindergarten. Children residing in Duval County who are 4 years old by Sept. 1, 2008 and entering kindergarten in the 2009-2010 school year are eligible to join Mayor Peyton’s Book Club.
