Freedom, Fanfare and Fireworks

Activities include a free country concert at Metropolitan Park featuring John Rich with special guest Cowboy Troy, Joe Nichols and The Road Hammers, Freedom Ride presented by the City of Jacksonville and Adamec Harley-Davidson, ice skating and family activities at the Veterans Memorial Arena, fireworks along the downtown riverfront and much more!

Mad Science
NASA: Journey into Outer Space
Grades K-5
9am - 12noon
Kids explore space, the atmosphere and beyond during this week long program. They will become a rocket scientist as they build their very own and participate in a rocket launch, create a comet, discover space technology, steer lasers and so much more. Bugs, Brains and Whodunit?

1pm - 4pm
Kids will explore a variety of themes during this fun, exciting camp. They will explore the world of bugs, discover the science of sports, make brains while traveling through the Organ Trail, send secret messages like spies and figure out whodunit at the scene of the camp crime! Summer Camp Assistance Program
The Jacksonville Children's Commission provides grants to several nonprofit organizations that run summer camp programs.
Children participating in the free/ reduced lunch program or who have documented special needs or are recipients of the McKay Scholarship are eligible for seats at selected camps. Parents must contact the camp of choice directly for information about the application process and availability. Note: Parents who receive subsidized child care will lose their funding and be placed onto the wait list if enrolling the same child into a summer camp program. Please call an eligibility specialist at 630-3647 for details.
