Be the Dinosaur uses state-of-the-art video game technology to allow visitors to BE a dinosaur. Applying lessons learned about different dinosaur species, their habitats, predators, and in some cases prey, visitors will embark on a quest for survival, seeking food, water, shelter and safety. Other activities include examining real fossils in the Field Station, climbing aboard the Dinosaur Safari Jeep, and using dinosaur models to role play on a 3-D Cretaceous landscape. MOSH will present dinosaur-themed programming throughout the summer to give visitors an immersive experience. Florida’s Voluntary Prekindergarten or VPK is a free education program that helps your child be ready for success in Kindergarten and beyond. Children must live in Florida and be four years old on or before September 1 of the current year to be eligible. If you live in Duval County, the Early Learning Coalition of Duval will host three upcoming VPK Registrations on: Tuesday, May 14 Tuesday, May 21 Tuesday, June 11 VPK is also available at all offices, Monday through Thursday 7am - 6pm: Westside at Kingdom Plaza, 5310 Lenox Avenue, #5, Jacksonville, 32205 Note: Parents should interview child care providers before enrolling. To register for VPK, documentation is required for proof of your child’s age and Florida residency. Please also bring your child’s Social Security number. Aquatics Camp Busing Now Available
To make it easier for Aquatics Camp campers to arrive safely to and from camp, they are offering transportation from the Avenues and Jacksonville Beach areas. Weeks 1, 2, 3, 7, 8 Weeks 4, 5, 6 Please visit www.aquaticscamp.org to review week dates. The bus will pick up at 7:30 AM and drop the child off at camp. When camp concludes the bus will drop the camper off in the same location arriving at approximately 5:30PM. Chaperones will accompany the campers on all bus trips. The cost is $40 per week and can be purchased at the time of registration in the "Week 8" time slot when selecting classes. Click here to register and pick your classes. Jacksonville Children's Chorus & The Young Men's Chorus of Jacksonville - Auditioning Now for Next Season - Grades 1-12 While prior musical training is not necessary to participate in the Jacksonville Children’s Chorus or Young Men's Chorus, an audition is required. Children will be placed in the appropriate choir group based on their skills, maturity and readiness. You do not need to bring a prepared audition piece. The audition process is quick and simple. A conductor will listen for the singer’s ability to match pitches, to learn a simple tune, and to hold one’s voice part against others. Auditions are by appointment only.
